KILIMANJARO APRIL 2011
The team have returned from the most awe-inspiring, exhausting, incredible experience of their lives having successfully reached Uhuru Peak at the top of Kilimanjaro at a height of 5895m above sea level.
Congratulations to Kevin, Tracey, Steve, Sue and Jason for making it to the top, it took 5 arduous days to reach the peak and only 2 to get back down and reach the gates at the edge of the Kilimanjaro National Park.
During the 7 day trek the team experienced headaches, stomach upsets (to varying degrees!), extreme fatigue and sleeplessness due to the altitude. However, they also experienced the most stunning views imaginable, the support of a fantastic team of 17 guides and porters and a cook who managed the conjure up amazing food in the most challenging of situations, the chicken (or was it Sylvester) and chips at Mawenzi Tarn was nothing less than a miracle considering the team had already been walking for 3 days!
The fundraising for the event is still ongoing, but the team are very proud to announce that so far they have raised in excess of £19,000 for the Trust.
Congratulations everyone and thank you for your support.
